Why Sindoor Is Offered To Ganesh Ji

I never knew this thing, Sindoor and Ganesh ji. I had only known Hanuman ji and Sindoor; Sindoor is offered to Hanuman ji, ‘coz when he saw Mata Sita using Sindoor for the long life of Shri Rama, immediately Hanuman ji immeresed himself all over in Sindoor, ‘coz he wanted Shri Rama to live forever.

But for what purpose Sindoor is offered to Ganesh ji? It was a mystery to me, I never read Ganesh Purana (which might have had all stories about Ganesh ji). But this secret is disclosed by a serial Ganesha (I would say). Where the son of Brahma is shown, and the fight of son of Brahma with Ganesha ji.

Brahma gave birth to a being, just by an accident, it was reddish in color, so was named Sindoora. Sindoora caught up some devilish qualities and start harassing people; at this Brahma cursed him to be killed by Ganesha.

As Kansa sent many devils to kill child Krishna. Sindoora sent many devils to kill Ganesha. Ganesha, the son of Lord Shiva and Parvati, was expert in everything. That made Sindoora hopeless. At last Sindoora confronted Ganesh ji, and Ganesh ji killed him, when Sindoora died his whole body turned dry red and reddish color fell all over Ganesha. Since that time Sindoor is offered to Ganesh ji for this bravery, Ganesh ji was just a child when he killed Sindoora.
