Sombar, Somya Pradosh, Solah Sombar Vrat Katha With Aarti

 Sombar (Monday) is the day of lord Shiva, it is also represents Chandra, the Moon. Shiva is a deity, who is supposed to give anything, whether it is future husband or wife, children, money & job, or curing from some disease. Only thing is, one should know the method to please him.

In Saptahik-Sombar, Somya Pradoah and Solah Sombar, one can perform similar kind of Puja and Vrat — only difference is, Katha behind them. For Vrat, one should take food one time, after evening Puja and Katha.

Sombar Vrat Katha

There was a business-man (सेठ), he used to worship lord Shiva but didn’t have any son. Once Parvati (lord Shiva’s wife) looked into his matter and requested Shiva to give him a son. Lord Shiva gave him blessings but also told that his son would die at the age of 12; business-man kept this secret to his heart — and he wasn’t happy; he wasn’t sad.

His wife gave birth to a child. When it reached to the age of 11, business-man gave his brother-in-law lots of money to send his son for education in Kashi; and also suggested to do Yagya and feeding the poor on daily-basis.

Brother-in-law took the boy with him and started travelling to Kashi. In the way, was a palace of a king, and preparation for princess wedding. Other king whose son, the prince, was going to marry the princess was blind by an eye. So the other king thought a deception, ‘coz the princess could reject the prince after seeing him; he convinced the brother-in-law (in favor of some money) to give him the boy to replace his son — after wedding is over, they could go to Kashi. The brother-in-law agreed.

Deception took place, princess got married to the business-man’s son who was going to die at 12. After marriage, boy secretly told the truth to his wife, the princess, and went to Kashi. When the other king asked the princess to come with them, she said, “My real husband has gone to Kashi, your son is not my husband.” Other king with his son, returned to his place.

Here at Kashi, boy started educating himself and when reached at 12, he died. Parvati knew everything and once again requested lord Shiva to give him full span of life, Shiva granted. Boy, with his wife and brother-in-law returned to his home. Bussiness-man was happy ‘coz after 12, his son was still alive. All happened due to Shiva’s grace.

Somya Pradosh Vrat Katha

(The time of Pradosh Vrat is, evening time of both Triyodashi, Krishan Paksha and Sukhka Paksha.)
A woman used to do Pradosh Vrat regularly. Once her husband died and condition reached to her starvation; so with her son she started asking for Bhiksha (begging for food). It continued for several months. Once he met a homeless prince whose parents were killed by enemies. She kept the prince with her, like her son.

After few years, prince collected his friends, attacked the enemies and took his kingdom back. He also made the woman’s son his minister. It was all due to woman’s Pradosh Vrat, that she came out of a terrible situation.

Solah (Sodash) Sombar Vrat Katha

Once Goddess Parvati cursed a man for worst life. Man accepted the curse and lived nearby Shiva temple, his work was to worship Shiva and begging for food.

Once Apsaras visited that Shiva temple, and suggested that man to do Salah (16) Sombar Vrat & Puja for lord Shiva. Man did that with all his devotion, after 16 Mondays, the cured was removed. Parvati was surprised so she asked the secret, he told about Solah Sombar Vrat & Puja that Apsaras had told.

Parvati did Solah Sombar Vrat & Puja for bringing Kartikeya, her son, back home. After 16 days, Kartikey came back and asked his mother about “what made him come back.” Parvati disclosed the secret.

Kartikeya did this Vrat & Puja to get his friend’s affection. And his friend accidently met him and they became good friends again. Ater that, Kartikeya passed this secret to his friend.

Friend did this Solah Sombar Vrat & Pujat for getting married and he was selected in a Swyambar (competition) and got married to a princess.

Princess asked him that what made her to select him her husband when there were other good princes too. He told the secret, and she did this Vrat & Puja for getting an awesome baby.

 Sita is also known as Janaki, her festival that is Janaki Navami comes on Falgun Sudi Navami. Essential Nyas For A Sadhak To Do Everyday

Nyas means to establish something (Devi / Devta energy) in our body: it purifies our body and makes our body and mind worthy of chanting a mantra / stotra. A Sadhak should do भूत-शुद्धि, बहिर्मातृका न्यास, अन्तर्मातृका न्यास, and षोढा-न्यास daily, 'coz we worship Devta by becoming a Devta, and in that Nyas helps us a lot. In every mantra generally many kinds of Nyas are given prior to chanting a mantra, they are usually shorter and doesn't take much time. They are essential and shouldn't be skipped. These  भूत-शुद्धि, बहिर्मातृका न्यास, अन्तर्मातृका न्यास, and षोढा-न्यास take comparatively longer time duration.  भूत-शुद्धि means purification of five elements in our body, that is Earth (Prithvi), Water (Jal), Fire (Agni), Air (Vayu), and Ether (Aakash). बहिर्मातृका Nyas and अन्तर्मातृका Nyas, establish  "energy of our VarnMala" in our body-parts and in our chakras respectively.   षोढा-न्यास is of two types Lagu Shoda Nyas and Maha Shoda Nyas.

Devi Lalita Vrat & Puja Vidhi

 This festival is celebrated on Bhadon Vadi Chhath. It is for Devi Lalita, this day she is worshiped. Women worship Devi Lalita by Vrat and Puja, ‘coz they want to see the Goddess as their friend. 18 Types Of Puja (Worship) Acc. To Fetkarini Tantra

Puja enhances our devotion to our Deity, and it is not an expensive affair we can learn to do it ourselves. Puja makes our heart-center (Air element) stronger, as our devotion increases it is bound to be happen. It is written in Fetkarini Tantra, about 18 kinds of worship (Puja). I think during Navratri, Holi, Deepawali (Lakshmi), Ganesh Chaturthi, MahaShivRatri and during all major festivals, Panchopachar Puja isn't sufficient one should go for either Shodosopchar Puja (16 types) or below 18 types of Puja.
