Nirjala Ekadashi Vrat — Fast Without Water

This festival is celebrated on Jyestha Sudi Ekadashi. This is very hot month, and if you don’t take water whole day — this is too much to hold; but this is what Nirjala Ekadashi vrat is all about. Only few number of people are able to do it.

This day people worship lord Hrishikesh, offer him dhoop, deep, flowers and bhogas. They also distribute drinking water place to place for free; one can find this kind of incidents for this festival throughout India.

This vrat is supposed to give lots of punya when one doesn’t take food and water for oneself but distribute water to other people for free. It really gives control over senses and increases the will power.

It is said, this Nirjala Ekadashi is equal to 24 Normal Ekadashi; means a person can get lots of spiritual growth, just this day. Observing fast this day, is supposed to partially wash the bad karma collected due to false speech.

Essential Nyas For A Sadhak To Do Everyday

Nyas means to establish something (Devi / Devta energy) in our body: it purifies our body and makes our body and mind worthy of chanting a mantra / stotra. A Sadhak should do भूत-शुद्धि, बहिर्मातृका न्यास, अन्तर्मातृका न्यास, and षोढा-न्यास daily, 'coz we worship Devta by becoming a Devta, and in that Nyas helps us a lot. In every mantra generally many kinds of Nyas are given prior to chanting a mantra, they are usually shorter and doesn't take much time. They are essential and shouldn't be skipped.
