Sri Suktam is chanted everyday, on auspicious occasions and mostly during Diwali festival — for attracting Devi Lakshmi presence. 'Coz wherever Lakshmi goes, prosperity (money, property, people, vehicles, etc.,), health, and fame follow.
But if you are not an expert in Sanskrit, you may cause (ignorantly) Lakshmi to go from your place (home / office). In Sri Sukta, at many places two words, ALakshmi (अलक्ष्मी) and Lakshmi (लक्ष्मी) are mentioned.
ALakshmi stands for poverty and sickness, and at many places in Sri Suktham, ALakshmi is asked to go away, but instead of ALakshmi if you used Lakshmi to go away — you may come in trouble.
So here are the lines (Slokas) you may check Shri Sukta for ALakshmi (अलक्ष्मी), and I would say, don't chant it before knowing its meaning.
Slokas: 5,6 and 8.
