I haven't read Guru Granth Sabhib, I don't go to Gurudwara — but when I think about Sikkhism and Gurudwara, first feeling that come to me is, they help people, they serve people. Yes, serving needy people is true religion.
In most of countries there are Gurudwaras, when people are in crisis and can't feed their stomach, they go to Gurudwara for food (I'v read so many stories about this). And sometimes volunteers of Gurudwara go outside and feed the people for free.
Gurudwaras act so wisely for society, I think everyone should look into its teachings. Guru + Dwara (door), it is the place of Guru, you can find holy book "Guru Granth Sahib as a Guru" there. As people want teachings and guidance, so they go there.
If you want to know the teaching, pls buy and read Guru Granth Sahib in you preferred language.
The word Jayanti stand for birthday; when it is Guru Nanak Jayanti, it is his birthday celebration. His teachings that I like a lot is "Seva," it purifies emotions, thoughts and of course the body; connected human beings to humanity as all the veins of the body connect to the heart.
