Budhwar is the day of Budhdev (Mercury) and gemstone is Panna (Emerald). It represents communication and things related to that.
We shouldn’t do things which Budhdev doesn’t like — one of many things is journy. Specific journey on Wednesday is prohibited, specially for married couples; this story is related to that.
Katha
Once a husband went to his Sasural (wife’s home), lived there for few days, and started departing with his wife on Wednesday. Everyone said, “Don’t go, today is Budhwar.” But he said, “Nothing happens.” And continued to journey, this made Budhdev angry.
Budhdev created an illusion, in mid way to their home, wife saw a man exact copy of his husband and got confused who was real husband. That man was also claiming, this wife is mine. Thing really got messed up. The real husband realized his mistake and apologized Budhdev to forgive him this time. In a moment the illusion disappeared and they went to their home happily.
Vrat
Wednesday isn’t as popular as Monday, Tuesday and Saturday; but its importance isn’t any less. People also worship Goddess Lakshmi this day followed by a Havan using Kamalgatta beads. Puja and Vrat for Mercury are supposed to enhance the career of people who are in communication and information kind of field. With Mercury, worshiping Goddess Vaagdevi is also helpful as Vaagdevi is the Goddess of knowledge, speech, intellect and wisdom. You can understand Vaagdevi as a sister of Saraswati (though Saraswati is much popular).
Aarti
As every Puja is ended by an Aarti, so here it is:
